J.D Davis’ walk-off home run gives SF Giants dramatic victory over Red Sox SAN FRANCISCO – JD Davis needed just one pitch to hit his 14th home run of the season, walk off the Boston Red Sox, and tie the series with a 3-2 victory. He belted the first pitch he saw from Kenley Jansen over the left field wall and just inside the foul pole, electrifying a Giants crowd that a few moments earlier had sat stunned after the visitors rallied to tie the game. The bat was in the air almost as long as the ball was, with Davis letting the stick fly with a dramatic flourish before rounding the bases.“I was just happy it stayed fair, because it was hooking a little bit,” Davis said. “I just had to pause there and really take in the moment, to make sure it was fair or foul because it was hooking right to left.”San Francisco had gotten scoreless performances from Ryan Walker, Sean Manaea and Tyler Rogers against the Red Sox.All the Giants needed was for their All-Star closer Camilo Doval to notch his 32nd save of the season while leading 2-0.Inst...

Amid 'X' sign controversy, Musk says headquarters will remain in SF SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Elon Musk's latest move in converting Twitter to "X" was installing a giant "X" sign over company headquarters. Musk shared a tweet Friday night showing the bright sign displaying his company's new logo. Not everyone is happy with the new sign. San Francisco resident Christopher Beale tweeted a video of the aggressively bright light from the "X" outside his apartment and called it an "eye sore." City officials have their gripes with the sign as well. The City of San Francisco opened a complaint and an investigation into the sign, which is located at 1355 Market St. Putting up a sign on top of a building requires a permit for safety and design reasons, according to city officials. When workers took down the old Twitter sign on Monday, the job was interrupted by the San Francisco Police Department. SFPD told KRON4 that officers responded to a possible unpermitted street closure, but no crime was committed. (AP Photo/Godofredo A. Vásquez, File)Even with all of t...

Tyler Wells falters again in Orioles’ 8-3 loss to Yankees in front of sellout crowd at Camden Yards Mike Elias on Friday said the increasing workloads of his young starting rotation is “becoming more of a conversation.”It might be even more so if Tyler Wells continues pitching the way he has since the All-Star break.Wells, the Orioles’ best starting pitcher before the All-Star break, struggled again Saturday night in an 8-3 loss to the New York Yankees. The announced crowd of 42,829 — the second sellout at Camden Yards this season — witnessed Wells fail to make it through three innings for the second time in three starts. The relief behind Wells, who surrendered three runs, wasn’t much better, as Mike Baumann gave up one run and Cole Irvin allowed four in the sixth.Ryan Mountcastle blasted a solo home run in the second and Ramón Urías hit an RBI single later in the inning to give the Orioles an early 2-1 lead, but they could only manage three more hits and one additional run in the final seven frames.
