By Paula Reid | CNNA Donald Trump ally has turned over thousands of documents to special counsel Jack Smith related to efforts to find supposed voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election – including materials that haven’t been previously disclosed to investigators looking into events surrounding January 6, 2021.Former New York Police Commissioner Bernie Kerik was part of the team led by Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani trying to uncover fraud that would swing the election in favor of Trump. For months, Kerik had tried to shield some of the documents from investigators, citing privilege. But in recent weeks, Kerik gave the documents to the Trump’s 2024 campaign to review. After that review, the campaign declined to assert privilege, according to Kerik’s lawyer, Tim Parlatore, who turned over the documents to Smith’s office on Sunday.“I have shared all of these documents, approximately 600MB, mostly pdfs, with the Special Counsel and look forward to sitting down with them in about 2 week...Bill placing incarcerated parents close to their children signed into law

Incarcerated parents housed in more than 30 state prisons around California could be moved closer to their children, now that the “Keep Families Close” bill was signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom on Friday and will take effect in January.“All of us, whether we are Republicans or Democrats, have children in our districts who have done nothing wrong and who have been separated from their parent due to incarceration,” Democratic Assemblymember and co-author Matt Haney previously told the Mercury News.AB 1226 — which had bipartisan support — will not trigger the relocation of every single incarcerated parent, but it will allow them to request transfers to a prison nearest their child’s home. The new law does not apply to people convicted of crimes that exclude them from child visitation rights, such as violence or sex related offenses. There are thousands of children in California with an incarcerated parent, but most of parents are housed in institut...San Jose office building where homes were eyed flops into foreclosure

SAN JOSE — A San Jose office building near that city’s mega malls has been seized by its lender, ending a saga of financial woes for a site that became an eyesore for which multiple housing projects were floated and then flopped. The building, located at 826 North Winchester Boulevard, had veered into and out of foreclosure proceedings before being finally seized by the lender for the property. The site has now been foreclosed upon twice by different lenders but not before it became a rundown building scarred by graffiti that at least one neighbor perceived as an eyesore.“The community deserves something way better,” Dr. Tal Solomon, the principal veterinarian at Arch Veterinary Services, which operates an animal hospital next door to the office building, said in comments he emailed to this news organization.Solomon also perceives the empty building as a hazard to his business. The Giants got superb defense. They got a strong pitching performance.Once again, the bats failed them.Bringing a once-promising road trip to a nightmarish end in a Monday matinee, the Giants were humbled, 5-1, by the Tigers, their sixth straight loss to end a road trip that began with five wins in a row. After being swept over the weekend for the first time this season by the Nationals, they managed to be swept again only a day later, in the makeup game of a questionably postponed series finale from their second road trip of the season (Detroit won the first two games in April). The starting pitcher with the fortune to face a badly scuffling group, playing its 11th game in its fourth city since the All-Star break, was Hayward’s own Tarik Skubal, a 26-year-old lefty making his fourth start back since elbow surgery. He struck out nine over five innings before handing off to the Tigers’ bullpen, who brought the total number of victims to 15, in only the Giants’ latest...Latest news
